This is how we recondition the trunnion balls from a Komatsu Dozer D375A-3/5.
We use the base of the worn trunnion ball but we cut off the ball and its shaft. We then machine a new ball and shaft out of EN19. This gets sent for case hardening. The base gets machined to suit the outside diameter of the shaft. Once completed the ball and shaft is pressed into the base and then welded together.
Experience with the reconditioned units reveal that wear life is superior to a new unit.
